چکیده

A pH sensitive scanning probe is realized by integrating a micron-sized field-effect sensor onto a cantilever designed for an atomic force microscope. The hybrid device, called a scanning probe potentiometer ~SPP!, is capable of measuring pH gradients over a sample surface. The device was used to profile the pH across a reservoir of laminar streams created by fluid flow in an array of microfluidic channels of varying pH. When a single SPP scanned, a 1.5 mm reservoir in a 10-channel array, the pH profile was measured in less than 1 min with a spatial resolution of 10 mm and sensitivity of less than 0.01 pH units. © 2000 American Institute of Physics. @S0003-6951~00!01307-3#

Scanning hall probe microscopy technique for investigation of magnetic properties

Scanning Hall Probe Microscopy (SHPM) is a scanning probe microscopy technique developed to observe and image magnetic fields locally. This method is based on application of the Hall Effect, supplied by a micro hall probe attached to the end of cantilever as a sensor.  SHPM provides direct quantitative information on the magnetic state of a material and can also image magnetic induction under a...

A diamond-based scanning probe spin sensor operating at low temperature in ultra-high vacuum.

We present the design and performance of an ultra-high vacuum (UHV) low temperature scanning probe microscope employing the nitrogen-vacancy color center in diamond as an ultrasensitive magnetic field sensor. Using this center as an atomic-size scanning probe has enabled imaging of nanoscale magnetic fields and single spins under ambient conditions. In this article we describe an experimental s...

Demonstration of magnetoelectric scanning probe microscopy.

A near-field room temperature scanning magnetic probe microscope has been developed using a laminated magnetoelectric sensor. The simple trilayer longitudinal-transverse mode sensor, fabricated using Metglas as the magnetostrictive layer and polyvinylidene fluoride as the piezoelectric layer, shows an ac field sensitivity of 467+/-3 microV/Oe in the measured frequency range of 200 Hz-8 kHz. The...

An overview of scanning near-field optical microscopy in characterization of nano-materials

Scanning Near-Field Optical Microscopy (SNOM) is a member of scanning probe microscopes (SPMs) family which enables nanostructure investigation of the surfaces on a wide range of materials. In fact, SNOM combines the SPM technology to the optical microscopy and in this way provide a powerful tool to study nano-structures with very high spatial resolution. In this paper, a qualified overview of ...
